The Pet Owner’s Parliament is a not for profit organisation formed in order to provide representation to British pet owners in matters related to the welfare and governance of domestic pets, legislation affecting domestic pets, long term improvement of education aimed at improving responsible pet ownership and policies designed to enhance the lives of domestic pets, their owners and society at large.

The organisation operates on a democratic one member, one vote system.

What does it cost to join?

Nothing. It’s 100% free.

What do I do as a member?

As much or as little as your time will allow. Members are able to propose issues for debate, vote on motions/petitions and contribute their views to P.O.P campaigns and policies. You can actually make a HUGE difference by doing little more than air your views.

What about if I want to do more than just take part in P.O.P debates and votes?

There are many openings for people to contribute more to P.O.P business. Generally recruting new members is very much a priority. In the world of politics, size really does matter. The larger the organisation grows the more seriously the views of P.O.P members will be taken when it comes to asking for change at Westminster and beyond.

Other hands on activities that can help P.O.P include downloading our poster and asking to place it in places where pet owners gather such as dog training clubs, vet’s waiting rooms, kennels, catteries or pet shops.

For skilled/animal experienced members we are always keen to recruit new people to the P.O.P policy advisory group. You simply need to change your membership profile or select ‘Join as member and policy advisor’ when you sign up.

What is the history of the Pet Owners Parliament, who’s involved?

The Pet Owners Parliament concept was originated by Ryan O’Meara. An ex-professional dog trainer and pet publisher. The ideao for P.O.P came about after it became apparent that pet owners have no solid, genuine representation on major issues and decisions that are taken on behalf of pet owners in the UK. The aim is and always has been to hand back the influence to the people who deserve it most, pet owners themselves.

Does P.O.P make money?

The Pet Owners Parliament is a not for profit organisation.

The website of the P.O.P is now designed to act as a hub for animal welfare news.

You can become a member or find out more information at our first off-shoot group, Cfidos (Coalition for improved dog ownership standards).
